Morphological description (show/hide)
Massive, globular, of about 1.8 to 4.7 cm with one or few large apical oscular with a diameter from 2.4 to 5.5 mm. Large tangential triactines sometimes visible by eye on the sponge surface. | beige | beige | One osculum | Scattered giant triactines and smaller triactines. Tetractines of similar size as the small triactines occur in the wall of presumably exhalant canals, their basal actines tangential to the canal wall, and the apical actine reaching inside the lumen of the canal. | Cortical skeleton with tangentially arranged giant triactines (triactine I) along with smaller sized triactines. | Giant triactines of the cortical and the choanosomal skeleton, equiangular and equiradiate, with conical, sharp-tipped actines: 447 - 1029.3 - 1488 um x 89 - 149.9 - 210 um (n=20). Smaller triactines from the cortical and choanosomal skeleton, equiangular and equiradiate, with conical, sharp-tipped actines:120 - 164.4 - 213 um x 14 - 18.5 - 24 um (n=20). Tetractines of the canal walls: Equiradiate and equiangular, with conical, sharp-tipped actines: 110 - 165.2 - 220 um x 13 - 16.7 - 21 um (n=20). Apical actines: 73 - 130.6 -180 um x 8 - 10.3- 13 ?m (n=13). |
